Dried Peonies are best placed out of direct sun and away from heat sources
and excessively humid environments. Living rooms, hallways, bedrooms, dining
rooms, and all interior walls are ideal places for them. Un-insulated areas
such as attics, garages or outside walls are usually too exposed to the extremes
of wet and dry conditions and are usually not recommended for the placement
of peonies.
|
For use in weddings or outside events such as parties, they can be used as
table arrangements etc. on nice days and then brought back inside afterward.
If an event is planned and the weather forcast is for rain or wet weather,
a dry flower fixative can be applied to shield the peonies from the extremes
of either heat or moisture, and is easily applied as a spray.
|
 |
Spray fixatives work extremely well, (just a light spray), and will protect
the peonies for an extended period of time allowing them to be displayed
outside permanently on doors, porches, etc. or inside in very moist areas
like bathrooms, as long as they aren't placed in direct sun or in places
where they might be rained on. Dried flower sprays can be purchased at just
about any craft/floral department of any major store. Read and follow label
instructions.
To further extend the life of dried peonies, they can be placed in tightly
sealed containers (as can most dried flowers) in as few layers as possible,
and stored for extended periods of time in a dark, dry place and then brought
back out during whichever season you prefer to enjoy them. They must be
completely dry before storing in order for this to work.
A common questions is: " How do you clean them?" Simply blow off the dust.
Do not use a vacuum on them. To help insure that you can keep the dust off,
a spray fixative will coat them with an invisible layer of protection.
For the most part, dried peonies require little or no care except for placing
them out of direct sun, and will last for many years of sheer enjoyment.
